SASUKE - http://twitpic.com/23jjjz

RUSSIA - http://twitpic.com/24ki4a

sorry :c

Sasuke plushie for [livejournal.com profile] ninetailedidiot because she was feeling super down when I was talking to her one day and I wanted to cheer her up. He should arrive at her house today or tomorrow~
Also the pocket on his leg really works and there is a little felt kunai in it YEAH I AM THIS MUCH OF A DORK haha-- actually I like making everything work on plushies [you can even undress any plush I make if you so choose] when I make them so... yeah. Sasuke took about four hours to make, including drafting a new body pattern [I lost the old one I made] and just, idk, EVERYTHING FROM SCRATCH

Russia plushie for [livejournal.com profile] rainbowmiku's birthday... which is in October WOW I AM KIND OF EARLY WITH THIS. I actually really like him and kind of want to keep him so I think I'll make a second one for myself when I'm done and keep him around for reference [as the only thing I have a pattern for is the body; everything else I make up as I go along haha] before I give him to her. xD;
And yeah I totally painted my nails for the Netherlands sob sob they didn't get first. ;__; At least they got second... and it was a good game, so congrats to Spain!
ALSO THIS PLUSH IS STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS, OBVIOUSLY. I mean he doesn't even have pants. also sorry it's so blurry, it looked fine on my phone!

edit

I friggen love the plushies! They're so adorable and you're so talented. I am so jealous, I wish I could make something as epic as a plushie. Really though, I like the creative things you add on them, every little detail. They are quite cute and that's simply amazing. Plus, I actually know who Sasuke is. >.< HAHA

I really need to read more manga/watch more anime.. *le sigh*

Thank you! :D They are so fun to make. I actually haven't made any more since this post [well, I started Elizabeth, but she's naked with nothing but hair and eyes so... :|] but I really want to. xD; And honestly, they're not that hard. The body is simple as can be [two shapes sewn together] and the clothes... well, those vary, as I make stuff up as I go along and generally go by the motto "Patterns? What are those?" as I find it takes way more effort drafting out small shapes when you can just, you know... cut those small shapes out of felt to begin with. xD If you ever want to give it a shot I can give you advise and help or something,it's really fun!
And thank you again, these things are when my OCD comes in handy. There's something oddly satisfying about making them with as much detail as I can jam on.

Aw, it's alright, I'm super behind on my anime and manga. When I go to anime cons I don't know who half the people as dressed as now. xD;; I am so very out of the loop... I can recommend some old-ish ones I like to you, but the new stuff? I am clueless. it's my other friends who keep me in the know. xD [but apparently the Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler manga is great and the anime not so much...? :D?? Dunno if that helps any haha~]

Date: 2010-08-22 07:24 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xswept-awayxx.livejournal.com
Aww, poor naked girl. I'm sure you'll get her some clothes soon enough. ;D And I'm also sure it'll come out great!

Actually, that'd be nice. I wouldn't mind having some little projects to do, plus my sister would probably be into that sort of stuff. I haven't made any arts and crafty like things in a while. But, sowing is not too hard to pick up again.

OCD actually does come in handy for some things, but for everything else you just feel crowded and bombarded! *faint*

Sure! I love recommendations. I actually used to read on onemanga.com a lot but my sister says they aren't around anymore. The only mangas/animes I've really followed a long way through was NANA, some of InuYasha, Wolf's Rain, and parts of Chobits, oh and most of Fruits Basket. And of course as a kid I really was into pokemon and card captors sakura, but like I said, I just haven't been too into something to really read it all the time. I do like it though, I think anime/manga is so much more detailed and so lovely to read/watch compared to a lot of American stuff.

Don't get me wrong, some American cartoons/comics are pretty awesome. But I really enjoy the line work the Japanese have and how far they go into detail for little things. Mangas are usually so funny, too.

My sister is usually the one who tells me about new stuff to read or watch on youtube. But, I'd be up for any recommendations! I kind of want to get back into that again since I have more time to read lately.

[1/2 I TYPE TOO MUCH haha orz]

Date: 2010-08-22 09:03 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] prussianknight.livejournal.com
Aw, thank you. I'm still just mulling over how to make her dress look good and have it able to come off. I may just end up making it one permanent piece on her though, idk yet. =3=

I'd say start with a simple character and go from there. Hell, if you want something super simple you can make mini plushie things like these (http://twitpic.com/254sbv). I've given them little bits of clothes since this picture, but don't have a picture of it atm. xD; I have a pattern for them I could give you and you could just size as big/small as you'd like~

And yeah, they closed down not long ago. There's another good manga site but I can't remember the name of it. I can ask a friend later though~ And awesome, I love all of those~ [I actually cosplayed one of the Nanas with a friend before haha~ I've also cosplayed a few IY characters back in the day~] And Pokemon is a classic you can't not love. CCS is also fantastic. As for recommendations I have Slayers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slayers), which is always the first recommendation I give as I've loved it for years and still adore it. It's an old anime from the 90s, so the animation isn't ~amazing~ but it has an excellent voice cast [both in Japanese and English] and a super fun story. Also, Megumi Hayashibara. This woman is amazing. She voices the lead role in Japanese, sings the opening/ending themes, and just has a lovely voice. You probably know at least one song of hers. xD [Or maybe I'm just biased.] The mangas are also good, but I fell in love with the anime originally, so there you have it.
Another one is The Twelve Kingdoms (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Twelve_Kingdoms). It takes an overdone idea [a girl who doesn't really fit in at school finds out she's meant to be in another world; and she's important in that other world, to boot.] and really makes it work. I don't mind the English, but I've had friends say it's awful, so I recommend the Japanese version unless you're not fond of reading subtitles.
Then there's the shojou series Revolutionary Girl Utena (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolutionary_Girl_Utena) which... is really good, but that wiki link describes it better than I feel I can without major rambling. xD
And, while controversial, I'm also a fan of Hetalia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hetalia:_Axis_Powers). I recommend the webcomics [all the ones fan translated can be read here (http://sites.google.com/site/hetaliaindexes/)... the art is bad in the beginning, but it gets better, I promise. xD;] or the Japanese anime, as the English version is changing a LOT of lines and, in my opinion, making most of the characters very ooc. The English version may be your thing, and that's fine, but I'm not a fan of it.
Oh, and you should read After School Nightmare (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/After_School_Nightmare), which doesn't come in anime form atm but is still a pretty interesting story.
Other than that you seem to already be a fan of the other animes/mangas I'd recommend, but if I think of any more I'll let you know. [That should be enough to find something you like, though. xD]
And yeah, there are some good American equivalents, but overall I find anime/manga realizes their target audience doesn't have an age limit, so it's just like any other outlet, like movies or comic books. It doesn't limit itself to being just a cartoon.

[2/2 sorry for the tl;dr haha]

And I agree about detail. Any and all Hayo Miyazaki movies can attest to that, as not many "children's" movies have the level of detail his do. Even when characters are just, say, standing and listening to someone talk they shift in their stance and fidget a bit and it's so realistic. It's little details like that that really give it some depth. [I also recommend all of his movies, esp "The Cat Returns", "Kiki's Delivery Service", "Nausicaa Valley of the Wind", "Pocco Rosso", "Spirited Away", "Howl's Moving Castle" and just... anything of his, really. xD]

So, yes. Hope all that helps. xD I'm not expecting you to love all of it [you may though, as I liked all the animes/mangas you mentioned so maybe we have a lot in common when it comes to this] but hopefully you'll end up liking one of them or more. :) If I can think of anything else that's cool or that I think you'd like I'll toss it your way~ [Which, from what my friends tell me, Kuroshitsuji is really good in manga form so maybe give that a read?]

First, I love the titles of your comments LOL! I also think you'll find the right things for her as soon as you see something that catches your idea and gets your creative spark going. I also love the little dolls, they're cute!! I'm such a girl over this stuff.. seriously~ lol I would love the patterns and see if I can buy some of the supplies after I come home from Karla's. :D

Really? Which Nana have you cosplayed? Nana is a fantastic series, I fell in love with it when I was reading it in the shojo beats even though the story was already half way through the beginning. I have the live action films and I simply adore Hachiko. She's so bubbly and cute, and yet Nana is such the opposite, it's great to see them as friends. *squeee*

I have heard of Slayers, so I shall definitely look into that. I will also look into the others, because when it comes to recs, I love to check them all out. ^_^ As for anime, I prefer most shows with Jap and Eng. subs. It's just more fitting and sometimes I feel the English versions tend to take so much out of them.. :/ I find a lot of English versions butcher the dialogue, too. I actually re-watched a lot of Sailor Moon in Jap with subs, and after watching even the first couple episodes, I realized the English just butchered most of that show LOL. But, as a kid, it was suitable, you know?

I have actually seen Spirited Away, my sister has the DVD and it's a cute film. ^_^ I like the animation in that movie, it was incredible! I've heard of Kiki's Delivery Service, too, so I'll look into that as well. :D It's kind of hard to find DVDs in Anime though that are cheap, so I have trouble with that unless I watch online. I hate spending like $30+ on one DVD. :/ Even if I really like a series.

I am trying to find a good yaoi manga to read, because the last yaoi I really liked to read was Gravitation. I read some of Loveless, and then the site didn't have any other chapters. So, if you have any recs with that, too? As far as most mangas go, I guess I like shojo stuff most, or fantasy like InuYasha. I also really like Action mangas, but I can totally fall in love with the cute funny mangas, too. (Like Fruits Basket!! But, I think I mainly loved Shigure from that series with his trashy love novels LOL)

I will keep everything you said on my list of what to look into next I get a chance. If you have any sites to read any of these/watch any of these on, that'd also be splendid. ;D

[1/2 or 3 oh my god I have done this again]

lol I'm glad you liked them; I tried to comment and realized I typed too much and wanted to make it clear I'd continued a reply and it wasn't like, idk, two separate comments in your inbox. xD;
Aw, thanks. :3 I really need to finish her and get started on others though, as I have this mental image of me having a whole hoard of plushies and it's be awesome to make real. xD [I'm eventually making a giant Toothless plush, but I want a friend's help for that as I only do simple stuff, not dragons omg.]
And, um, okay. I have no scanner with which to scan my patterns atm so... oh god this is the lamest substitute ever but; HERE (http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa36/Kiri_Akurei/IMG_0682.jpg) for the minis and HERE (http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa36/Kiri_Akurei/IMG_0683.jpg) for the large one. Yea, I just doodles those up in my sketchbook. Sorry for the awful lighting, it's almost 3am and my macro mode likes looking super yellow in artificial light. OKAY SO ASTERISK MEANINGS:
* - leave this part open. When you sew you'll need a gap for two things; turning the plushie inside out [well, right side in, actually, as you sewed it inside out to hide the seams] and to put the stuffing into it after turning it inside out/right side in/whatever. After stuffing it sew up the top. You can loop a piece ribbon between the fabric/felt before you sew it shut to make the little ones keychains if you want. Either way after when you cut out hair [one front piece and one back piece at least, but you can make more if you want, like, if you want it to look layered] and hot glue them on the head you wont see the seams anyway so don't worry if they look bad or whatever. [also, if you looped in some ribbon make it long enough to reach past the hair when you glue it on, as the hair should be bigger than the top of the head to hide the seam.]
** - the base should be whatever size it needs to be. After you sew the two body shapes together [leave a bit of the top and all the bottom open] you can place it on paper and trace around it to see how big the circle/oval needs to be. [I don't make it a perfect circle, as a slight oval shape looks nicer imo as the front and back are then a little flatter, but you can do as you like~]
If that was too complicated [it's simple I swear, I just... type a lot orz] let me know and I'll make it more clear, as it sounds way harder than it is in text. xD;

I cosplayed Nana O, although I also had a Hachiko with me at the time. It was a spur of the moment type thing so I had to cut my hair for it as I didn't have time to get a wig, but thankfully she has a nice cut and I have dark hair. xD But yeah, Nana is such a fun series~

[2/3 OH LOOK, I WROTE A LOT. HOW SURPRISING.]

Awesome, I always like knowing people have at least heard of it. Most people haven't and it makes me sad as while, not perfect, I see it as such a good anime that if it were more well known it would easily be a classic, imo. I may be very biased, though haha. And yeah, I know what you mean. I like giving both a try, but it seems more natural, or at least "how it was meant to be seen" in it's original language. But yeah, Hetalia is basically getting the Sailor Moon treatment, in regards to the dub, so you can give it a shot but I say stick to the comics [where it started] or the subs.

Awesome, Spirited Away is fantastic. I want to say one of my favorite Miyazaki films, but I adore all the ones I mentioned so... xD;; And I know you can find anime online, but I rarely do. My fiends usually use this site (http://www.watchanimeon.com/), though. And as for manga I use this site (http://www.mangafox.com/), which I've always thought was as good as One Manga, but now OM is gone so... yeah. I totally agree on anime being really expensive. I know the industry is suffering but... I just can't afford to fork out that much for one DVD when a series is so long I'll have 20+ DVDs to buy. [Though I'll admit, I will cave sometimes for a boxset, as those generally have better prices.]

Ah cool, I wasn't sure if you were into yaoi~ I'm a fan, but I find it really hard to find one that isn't hardcore with the seme/uke cliche. Gravitation was fun for what it was, but I couldn't take anyone seriously. xD But yeah, Loveless was a really interesting series [although I have way too many unanswered questions about just how that whole tail and ears go away when you lose your virginity thing works... do they just like, POOF MAGIC disappear, or go back into the body? Or, oh god, DROP OFF or something? idk I think these things haha~] Anyway, I was always fond of Only The Ring Finger Knows (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Only_the_Ring_Finger_Knows), which I ended up getting in both novel and normal manga form; both are good and it depends on what you can find/what you prefer reading, really. I can remember reading and liking Eerie Queerie! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eerie_Queerie!), but it's been ages and I'm not sure it's as good as I remember. xD; Oh, and Antique Bakery (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antique_Bakery) is good! It's also been made into a live action series, if you're interested in those. [And, while not yaoi, it's made me think of Hana Kimi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hana-Kimi), which is a fun manga about a girl going to an all boy school and is also a live action series as well as a manga, and both are fun. Hell, the live action may even be better as it's just so amusing to watch the silly manga-esq things done by real people. xD]
From: [identity profile] prussianknight.livejournal.com
You should be able to find both live actions, as well as others, on this site (http://www.mysoju.com/). If not let me ask and I can ask [livejournal.com profile] double00beaver where to find them, as I KNOW she'd know. xD
[Though, all those are more shonen-ai. The only actual YAOI I've seen is Sensitive Pornograph (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sensitive_Pornograph), which is... pretty lulzy, really. My friend and I watched it and both he and I were loling thought it. It's so cliche and silly that, even as uncensored porn, we couldn't take it too seriously. Funny story though; when we were looking for a DL link online we downloaded what was labelled as this anime, when really it was some anime called The Rapeman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rapeman) which is just as bad and cheesy as it sounds. Okay, done with the random NSFW anime dump now haha]

But yeah, as for yaoi I mainly read fanfiction or doujinshis now, as I just get tired of the same old seme/uke things in manga and anime. I'm probably missing out on some good, not so cliche ones, but yeah. xD Er, if you get into a particular series and want help finding good fanfiction I may be able to help? I mainly only read Hetalia atm [which I'll warn you is almost all boylove; this fandom is seriously lacking in het and girllove pairings :c], but I can still try to help with others. xD;

I'll keep thinking though, as I'm someone who considers themselves a yaoi fan so I should know more than just those few. xD
From: [identity profile] xswept-awayxx.livejournal.com
Thank you for ALL the recs and all the help with the little plushies. ♥ I'm sure the design substitute for not having a scanner should work fine. ^_^ And I'm going to read over what you wrote again when I start those up, so I'll probably be asking a lot of questions then. ^^;

Oh yes, I am a fan of yaoi! I just haven't read too much of it. And while Gravitation wasn't a very serious story or anything, I just really enjoyed the comical parts of it that I had read. I'm actually pretty sad that OM is over. I was reading most of my things on there. :/ But, I shall give manga fox a try. And see if I can find some of the Recs there. :D

Loveless is quite interesting, though I never understood about the ears or tail either. LOL I only read though, maybe the first two books for that? I've also tried to find girl/girl pairing (I have no idea what it's called, forgive me D:) mangas and stories but have had no luck without them being kinda trashy and just randomly doing things everywhere. o.o

I shall definitely look into Hetalia because the more you talk of it, the more I am interested. :D

OMG, I know what you mean about the prices being so off the wall. Especially for a longer series like InuYasha.. Luckily I found some DVDs at the dollar store, for $1. I had to get them. HAHA Good old dollar store. I really think some of the imported dvds are too over priced. I mean, some are worth it but come on. :/

I love fanfiction as long as I remember what I'm reading or bookmark it. I can sometimes browse and enjoy a fic and then forget about it. >.< I really need to read more..

Also, it's cool that you cosplayed Nana O. I really like her style and the clothes they dress her up in at various parts of the manga. I also love how spaztic she can get when being angry at people.

I had to laugh at the last part of the comment you have left me. LOL I think I'd be mortified if I found an anime called that. And don't worry, reading long comments/messages is not a problem for me. I feel I type equally as long at times and then I post it and see, "Oh my.. well.. hope they like long comments!" lolz
From: [identity profile] prussianknight.livejournal.com
You're welcome! Good luck with the plushies~ If it helps any I taught myself and made the patterns from scrap, so it's really not that hard once you get the hang of it. But if you have any questions just ask; you aren't the first person I've taught so I should be able to figure out how to describe my answer for any specific questions you may have. I'm a hands on learner though so hopefully my instructions are understandable in text. xD

Yeah, I definitely enjoyed Gravitation for what it was. :) And I know what you mean, I always used OM for my reading, but I've found MF is pretty good too, so it should have what you need. If not let me know and I can ask my friends where they go now.

It is, I always liked the way the world works in the Loveless-verse, even if I have far too many unanswered questions about it all lol~ [That's alright, but jsyk girl/girl is called shojou-ai or yuri, like how boy/boy is shonen-ai or yaoi. :)] That's my problem too. I don't mind smut, but I want a storyline and plot more than that, so when it's just random-- BAM, GIRLS KISSING I just... lose interest.

I hope you like it~ It's definitely a comical series and more on the funny side, though it does have some serious moments. A lot of my love for the series comes from the fans, as the series is about history, so there are a ton of history buffs and even history majors in the fandom, and it's always really fun to read fanfics or look at fanart and learn about historical events at the same time. :) [And, as someone who likes learning and adores history in general, I find it's right up my alley... although it's not all serious in the fandom, there is definitely a lot of stuff that's just silly or fun and all. xD]

Yeeeah... I like anime and all, but when it comes to long shows like that it's insane. I, as a young girl, started collecting InuYasha DVD by DVD but only made it until about season two before giving up, selling them all and saving up for boxsets [and those even came with cool things!]. And dude yes, that deal is too good to pass up. xD And yeah, I agree; some things canbe worth it depending on how rare it is and how much it means to you, but over all it's just... the anime industry is suffering for a reason, and I know a lot of people put a lot of hard work into anime but... yeah, the target audience are teens who don't have tons of cash and young adults who have Real Life to deal with and all the expenses that come with it. It's a shame but that's how it is; not many in the target audience will buy as much anime as an industry would like. [I'm talking about here in the USA, at least. I can't talk about the industry in other countries as I just don't know how it's doing. xD]

Fanfiction is fun, and I'll admit; I've found a few authors in the fandom I really like so I tend to just check their stuff every now and then and otherwise rely on friends to link me to other cool fics. I should do more browsing myself, I suppose, but ah well. xD;;

Yeah, me too. I didn't dress just like her, but I was much closer to her style of dressing than Hachiko's so I was able to pull an outfit together and borrow a few things from friends [including my Hachiko's electric guitar haha~] And lol yeah, they're both such fun characters. I'd like to cosplay her again one day, eventually.

Haha yeah, we were just... glad no one else was awake in the house as we lol'd over our accidental find. And yay, I'm glad! :D I know I tend to type a lot [on AIM I have one friend who usually tells me to give her a moment whenever I reply in our chats so she can read my GIANT WALLS OF TEXT so idk this is just in my nature I guess.] so it's good you don't mind. xD I like reading in general, so I don't mind long comments either. :D
